No vendor lock-in. LABLION works with all instruments and software in anatomic pathology: printers, processors, stainers, slide scanners, digital pathology viewers, EHRs and specimen tracking systems such as Leica CEREBRO. It runs alongside the systems you already have and exchanges HL7 messages with them, so every piece of your lab works better together.
Every specimen container, cassette, block, slide and delivery folder carries a LABLION barcode and is scanned at each bench, from accessioning to archive, giving a full chain of custody. After go-live at Ontario hospitals, specimen near misses fell from about 100 a month to almost zero, and the work was recognized by Ontario Health among its top 25 good laboratory practices.
Standardized specimen templates drive grossing, block counts and stain orders for each specimen type. LABLION has delivered 400+ specimen templates at a major academic medical center, mapped to Meditech and Cerner order codes and to autostainer protocols, so every case starts the same way.
Decision-tree diagnostic templates guide pathologists to complete, consistent diagnoses. LABLION enforces CAP cancer checklists, prompts for biomarker testing, suggests CPT and ICD codes automatically, and publishes final reports to a physician portal.
Order and track IHC, special stains, FISH, flow cytometry and molecular tests (PCR, NGS), and bring every ancillary result into the final pathology report. Oncology, cardiology and hematology workflows are built in.
LABLION integrates whole slide scanners including Leica Aperio, Roche Ventana DP 200 and DP 600, Philips IntelliSite and Hamamatsu NanoZoomer. Pathologists review cases remotely, sign out digitally, use AI image analysis for IHC scoring, and embed images in the pathology report.
LABLION is an open, vendor-neutral system with no lock-in. It connects to any cassette and slide printer, tissue processor, stainer, scanner, EHR, middleware or specimen tracking system (including Leica CEREBRO) over HL7 and FHIR, using Mirth Connect or Cloverleaf, and runs alongside the systems your lab already has. Historical cases migrate in from legacy LIS systems.
